We live in very interesting times.
There are new and more challenging issues we have to deal with while we are evolving at break-neck speed. Societies are changing, the economy is changing, companies are changing and people are changing.
Change is frightening for most people – but if you are properly prepared for change, you do not need to be. In this article you will discover 3 crucial facts about the future of jobs you need to be aware of…
…so that you are better prepared and equipped to not just survive but thrive in the new world which is quickly developing in our everyday lives.
Let’s start with the obvious…
1) We Are At A Critical Moment In Humanity’s Evolution
The current status of our technology coupled with the fast use of our natural resources and with the rapidly increasing population makes for a very challenging make-up of the whole situation.
Now I do not mean to say that odds are pessimistic or that modern civilization will crumble (which is highly doubtful). Instead, what I mean is that we are facing challenges we have never faced before and we are on a tight deadline.
Technology changes everything and the way we live our lives is a reflection of that. Fifteen years ago we barely used the Internet – can you believe that? Now we cannot live without it.
So what does this mean more exactly for you and your future career? In the midst of change, the best quality you can embody is adaptability. This means you should adapt quickly to change, both physically and psychologically. It means that you should be able to learn on your feet, fast and easily. It means that you should be psychologically prepared to adapt to new circumstances, take responsibility of your projects and get stuff done as soon as possible.
If you want to be ahead of the curve, you need to know deep down that you can handle anything that life throws at you. This is a learned skill – so adaptability should be one of your top focuses.
2) Your Job Will Most Probably Be Replaced By Robots
These was a report published in February 2016 predicting that almost 47% of US jobs are at the risk of being automatized in the future. In China, it is even higher – a staggering 77%!
What does this mean? It means that your job is probably going to be replaceable by robots, machines or computers. This is not necessarily bad – the more challenging part is that this will probably widen the gap between the rich and the poor and even the middle class will suffer. Basically, if you do not have a very specialized position you are most likely to be replaced by a robot which does not require medical care and vacation days. Even Stephen Hawking is not too optimistic about the whole situation either, as his views are similar on the increasing automation of jobs.
However, there is no need to worry – because computers cannot do everything that humans do and we do not need to imagine a grim future for ourselves.
Taking all these factors into consideration, what is the smartest move to make on your behalf?
3) Make Yourself Irreplaceable
In every curse there is a blessing and in every blessing there is a curse. It is the same with the future job automations – you can look at them either way, but the facts remain. Many jobs are going to get automated, we live in uncertain times and change is upon us at a very rapid pace.
So what can a normal person do in these circumstances? How can you secure a prosperous and happy future amindst these changes?
The shortest and simplest answer is this – make yourself irreplaceable. Now is the time when leadership skills are most needed – and be sure that computers and robots cannot replace humans when it comes to leadership. Skills such as creativity, leading people, speaking, managing and coming up with innovative solutions are (and will be) very valued.
Couple all of these with increased adaptability and fast learning capacity and you are set for life. After all, life is a long learning process. The problem is that most people stop learning when they finish school – but that is exactly when the real learning begins. That is why the next decades will be the decades of leaders, learners and change-makers.
The questions is – will you be one of them?
Will you start honing your skills so that you become unreplaceable in your company, in your community and in your social circles?
What value are you creating for yourself and others – and how quickly can you adapt (and even create) change?
These questions will determine your future – so ponder them carefully and expect correspondent results in the future. If you are looking for a job in which you can develop these skills, TribeHired is here to help you in this endevour.
